MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 0-2 road loss to the Rockford IceHogs on Wednesday, the Cleveland Monsters enter tonight’s game at 23-19-2-4 on the season. With a .452 points percentage, the ‘Hogs currently rank alone in seventh place in the AHL’s Central Division standings and 15th in the Western Conference. Rockford is led in scoring by RW Spencer Abbott (11-18-29), C Mark McNeill (6-21-27) and C Sam Carrick (11-12-23).

SEASON SERIES: Friday marks the eighth of eight head-to-head meetings between the Monsters and IceHogs this season and the fourth of four meetings between the two teams at BMO Harris Bank Center in the 2016-17 season. The Monsters are currently 4-3-0-0 vs. Rockford overall this season with an even goal differential (14/14) and are 1-2-0-0 vs. the IceHogs on the road with a -4 goal differential (7/11).

KEYS TO SUCCESS:

  • BUILD A LEAD: Both the Monsters (12-2-0-2) and IceHogs (13-0-1-1) boast excellent records when leading after two periods this season, so a solid indicator of which team will prevail in Friday’s season-series finale may well be who has the edge through the first 40 minutes of play.
  • PHENOMENAL FORSBERG: Monsters goaltender Anton Forsberg currently ranks in the AHL’s top-five in both goals-against average (2.19, 4th) and save percentage (.928, 2nd) so far this season.
  • EARNING OVERTIME: Rockford currently ranks tied for the AHL-lead in overtime games played this season (16), but with a 1-8 overtime record and a 4-3 shootout record so far this year, the IceHogs have just a .313 overtime winning percentage to their credit thus far in 2016-17.
