In the second of eight meetings between the two teams this season, the Cleveland Monsters, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, drop the puck vs. the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres, on Thursday with full coverage, live from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, underway at 7:00 pm on FOX Sports 1350 “The Gambler”, AHLTV, and the Monsters Hockey Network.

 

MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 5-1 road win over the Toronto Marlies on Saturday, the Cleveland Monsters enter tonight’s game at 9-6-0-2 on the season. With 20 standings points, the Monsters currently rank third in the North Division standings and eighth in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is currently led in scoring by RW Trey Fix-Wolansky (10-12-22), RW Carson Meyer (6-12-18), and RW Emil Bemstrom (9-8-17).

 

AMERICANS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 1-5 road loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday, the Rochester Americans enter tonight’s game at 10-6-1-1 on the season. With 22 standings points, the Americans currently rank second in the North Division standings and seventh in the Eastern Conference. Rochester is currently led in scoring by LW Brett Murray (8-6-14), RW Linus Weissbach (7-7-14), and LW Lukas Rousek (4-9-13).

 

REGULAR-SEASON SERIES: Thursday marks the second of eight meetings between the Monsters and Americans this season (1-0-0-0, +1 goal differential [6/5]) and the first of four games between the two clubs at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse this year.

  • NEW ARRIVAL: On Tuesday, Cleveland signed veteran defenseman Brandon Davidson to an AHL contract for the remainder of the 2022-23 season. A sixth-round selection (162nd overall) by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Davidson, 31, posted 9-14-23 with 82 penalty minutes in 180 career NHL appearances for Edmonton, Montreal, the New York Islanders, Chicago, Calgary, San Jose, and Buffalo spanning parts of seven seasons from 2014-21, and added 16-40-56 with 184 penalty minutes and a +12 rating in 224 career AHL appearances for Oklahoma City, Rockford, Stockton, and Rochester spanning parts of nine seasons from 2010-11, 2012-15, and 2018-22. The Lethbridge, AB native was released from his PTO contract by Rochester on Monday.
