Monsters Begin Crucial Homestand Against Charlotte

In the third of four meetings between the two teams this season, the Cleveland Monsters, affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, drop the puck vs. the Charlotte Checkers, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, on Thursday with full coverage, live from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, underway at 7:00 pm on Alt 99.1, AHLTV and the Monsters Hockey Network.

MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 1-2 home loss to the Rochester Americans on Monday, the Cleveland Monsters enter tonight’s game at 36-28-7-2 on the season. With 81 points, the Monsters currently rank fourth in the AHL’s North Division standings and eighth in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is led in scoring by C Zac Dalpe (32-21-53), C Mark Letestu (20-27-47) and D Adam Clendening (4-32-36).

CHECKERS PRE-SCOUT: In the wake of a 5-0 road win over the Springfield Thunderbirds on Sunday, the Charlotte Checkers enter tonight’s game at 49-17-7-1 on the season. With 106 points, the Checkers currently rank first in the AHL’s Atlantic Division standings and first in the Eastern Conference. Charlotte is led in scoring by RW Andrew Poturalski (23-47-70), LW Aleksi Saarela (29-24-53) and C Martin Necas (16-32-48).

SEASON SERIES: Monday marks the third of four meetings between the Monsters and Checkers this season and the first of two clashes between the two clubs at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse this year. So far this season, Cleveland is 1-1-0-0 vs. Charlotte both overall and on the road with a +2 goal differential (6/4).
