KEYS TO SUCCESS:

  • ROLL FOUR LINES: The Monsters are at their best when they get contributions from all members of their deep forward group, as evidenced by Friday’s by-committee offensive effort in a 2-1 victory over Rockford at The Q.
  • FORSBERG, DEAD AHEAD: One year removed from tying a Monsters franchise record for regular-season wins (23) and posting a 9-0 postseason record en route to a Calder Cup Championship, Cleveland goaltender Anton Forsberg started 2016-17 with a bang on Friday, delivering 24 saves in a 2-1 home win over the IceHogs, highlighted by a memorable point-blank denial of Rockford’s Brandon Mashinter in the first period.
  • SPECIALTY TEAMS SUCCESS: Cleveland’s power-play scored in their first opportunity of the season on Friday and posted a 1/2 overall mark in Friday’s victory. That success, when combined with a perfect 5/5 showing on the penalty kill, sets the table for the Monsters’ specialty teams units to excel in the coming campaign.
