KEYS TO SUCCESS:
- SPECIALTY TEAMS: Friday’s matchup vs. the Reign is a great opportunity for Cleveland’s power-play to get going, as they’ll be facing the AHL’s least-effective overall penalty kill so far this season (75.0%).
- MIDDLE FRAME: The second period has been the Monsters’ best so far this year in terms of goal differential (+2), while the middle stanza has been difficult to navigate for the Reign (-6) thus far in the campaign.
- GOALIE BATTLE: Both net-minders will need to be sharp on Friday as their mistakes will likely be magnified by the fact that the Monsters’ first clash of the season vs. Ontario features the two lowest-scoring teams in the AHL this year in Cleveland (1.80 GF/gm., 29th) and the Reign (0.80 GF/gm., 30th).
