Monsters Look For Weekend Sweep In Charlotte

MATCHUP Looking for their second straight win and a sweep of the two-game weekend in Charlotte, the Lake Erie Monsters (29-26-6-4) will continue their chase for a playoff spot when they meet the Checkers (28-34-5-1) Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Eastern.  The Monsters held off a late attack by Charlotte on Friday night to top the Checkers 3-2, giving the Monsters a 2-1-0-0 record against the Checkers this season.  The Monsters are 1-1-0-0 on their current three-game road swing, and each of the three games between the Monsters and Checkers this season have been decided by one goal.  The last two games between the two teamsl were 3-2 Monsters victories.

 

LAST TIME OUT Stefan Elliott scored two power play goals and Calvin Pickard stopped 31 shots to secure a 3-2 win for the Monsters on Friday.  Michael Schumacher also added a goal, while Ben Street chipped in assists on all three Monsters tallies.  Andrew Agozzino had a pair of assists, and Duncan Siemens also had a helper in the win.

 

WHO TO WATCH: MONSTERS Andrew Agozzino had a pair of assists, extending his point streak to 10 games, tying a franchise record.  The only other Monster to ever have a 10-game point streak was David Jones during the inaugural 2007-08 season.  Agozzino has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points over his 10-game point streak, while Jones had seven goals and seven assists for 14 points during his streak, which spanned from January 1st to February 1st, 2008. 

 

WHO TO WATCH: CHECKERS Justin Shugg had an assist to set up Charlotte's first goal on Friday, and he has five points over his last five games.  Overall, Shugg leads the Checkers in points this season with 19 goals and 37 points in 57 games.
