Monsters Look For Win Over Division Leading Barons

MATCHUP In the first meeting of the season between the two teams, the Lake Erie Monsters (14-12-2-3) will welcome the West Division leading Oklahoma City Barons (21-7-2-2) to Quicken Loans Arena tonight for a 7:00 p.m. game.  The Monsters are coming off a 5-4 overtime win on the road over Milwaukee on Tuesday, while Oklahoma City is coming off a 4-2 win over Oklahoma City on New Year's Eve.  The Monsters were 2-2-0-0 against the Barons last season.  Oklahoma City has won seven of their last eight games and five straight contests, and they have allowed two goals or less in seven of their last eight games. 

LAST TIME OUT The Monsters bolted out to a 3-0 lead through one period, but Milwaukee clawed back to make the third period a back-and-forth affair after knotting the game at 3-3 early in the third period.  Each team scored in the final moments of regulation to send the game into overtime tied at 4-4.  Mitchell Heard scored the overtime winner for the Monsters, who are now 4-2 in games decided in overtime.  Andrew Agozzino scored twice for the Monsters, while Stefan Elliott and Paul Carey also scored for the Monsters.  Carey also added three assists, while Max Noreau had two helpers.  Calvin Pickard won his fourth straight start in a Monsters uniform.

WHO TO WATCH: MONSTERS Carey had a goal and three assists for four points last game, and has goals in two straight games.  Overall, Carey has five goals and four assists for nine points in his last seven games for the Monsters.

WHO TO WATCH: BARONS Andrew Miller has at least a point in five of his last six games for the Barons.  Miller has a goal in two straight games, and has four goals and three assists for seven points in his last six games.
