Monsters Move on to Charlotte
In the fifth of eight meetings between the two teams this season, the Cleveland Monsters, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, drop the puck vs. the Charlotte Checkers, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, on Friday with full coverage, live from Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, NC, underway at 7:15 pm on 99X and the Monsters Hockey Network.
MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 2-4 road loss to the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday, the Cleveland Monsters enter tonight’s game at 24-22-2-4 on the season. With a .519 points percentage, the Monsters currently rank fifth in the AHL’s Central Division standings and ninth in the Western Conference standings. Cleveland is led in scoring by C T.J. Tynan (7-21-28), Oliver Bjorkstrand (14-12-26) and LW Sonny Milano (11-14-25).
CHECKERS PRE-SCOUT: In the wake of a 4-5 road overtime loss to the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday, the Charlotte Checkers enter tonight’s game at 23-24-4-0 overall this season. With a .490 points percentage, the Checkers currently rank alone in sixth place in the AHL’s Central Division standings and 12th in the Western Conference. Charlotte is led in scoring by C Andrew Poturalski (11-24-35), C Lucas Wallmark (17-15-32) and RW Valentin Zykov (14-14-28).
SEASON SERIES: Friday marks the fifth of eight head-to-head meetings between the Monsters and Checkers this season and the third of four meetings between the two teams at Bojangles Coliseum in the 2016-17 season. The Monsters are currently 2-1-0-1 vs. Charlotte overall this season with an even goal differential (12/12) and are 0-1-0-1 vs. the Checkers on the road with a -3 goal differential (5/8).
