Monsters Take on Senators for the First Time this Season

 

In the first of eight meetings between the two teams this season, the Cleveland Monsters, affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, drop the puck vs. the Belleville Senators, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, on Friday with full coverage, live from The Q, underway at 7:00 pm on Alt 99.1, AHLTV and the Monsters Hockey Network.

MONSTERS PRE-SCOUT: Following a 3-1 road win over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday, the Cleveland Monsters enter tonight’s game at 14-10-4-0 on the season. With 32 points, the Monsters currently rank fourth in the AHL’s North Division standings and ninth in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is led in scoring by C Zac Dalpe (14-13-27), LW Nathan Gerbe (6-15-21) and LW Eric Robinson (9-8-17).

SENATORS PRE-SCOUT: In the wake of a 5-4 road win over the Rochester Americans on Wednesday, the Belleville Senators enter tonight’s game at 13-15-2-0 on the season. With 28 points, the Senators currently rank sixth in the AHL’s North Division standings and 12th in the Eastern Conference. Belleville is led in scoring by LW Paul Carey (5-17-22), RW Drake Batherson (7-14-21) and RW Jack Rodewald (8-12-20).

SEASON SERIES: Friday marks the first of eight meetings between the Monsters and Senators this season and the first of four clashes between the two teams at Quicken Loans Arena this year.

  • FAMILIAR FACES: On Friday, Cleveland will face a Belleville team that features two former Monsters greats in D Stefan Elliott and LW Paul Carey. Both players rank in the top-ten in Monsters all-time franchise history in games played, goals, points, power-play goals and game-winning goals and appeared in 360 combined games for the Monsters between 2010 and 2015.
  • BODACIOUS BERUBE: Cleveland’s leading net-minder currently ranks among the AHL’s league-leaders in wins (10, T4th), minutes played (1187:27, 2nd), total saves (541, 2nd) and goals-against average (2.78, 20th).
