Forsberg's Career High 51 Stops Help Monsters Best Wild

CLEVELAND – The AHL’s defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, defeated the Iowa Wild on Friday by a final score of 5-1 in front of 11,743 fans at The Q. With the win, Cleveland’s season-best fourth consecutive victory, the Monsters improved to 31-27-3-4 overall this season and with a .531 points percentage, currently sit alone in fifth place in the AHL’s Central Division standings.

Cleveland’s T.J. Tynan delivered the Monsters a 1-0 lead on Friday with a net-front power-play finish at 12:35 of the opening frame courtesy of a slick five-on-three setup from Marc-Andre Bergeron and Zac Dalpe.

In the second, the Monsters extended their advantage to 2-0 with a Nick Moutrey even-strength goal at 2:53 with John Ramage and Justin Scott providing assists on the play. Then, at 3:42 of the middle stanza, Swiss-born defenseman Dean Kukan potted a left-point wrist shot on even-strength feeds from Sam Vigneault and Sonny Milano to make it 3-0 for the home team before Moutrey’s second of the period, a five-on-five strike assisted by Scott and Jaime Sifers at 16:59, gave Cleveland a 4-0 lead through 40 minutes of play.
