Monsters Held Off by Stars, 3-2
Moutrey posts first goal this year, Koules notches power-play marker for Cleveland in defeat.
The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, were defeated by the Texas Stars on Saturday at The Q by a final score of 3-2. With the loss, the Monsters fell to 7-6-2-2 overall this season and with a .529 points percentage, currently sit alone in fifth place in the AHL’s Central Division standings.
Texas grabbed a 1-0 lead with a Roope Hintz power-play score at 2:40 of the first, but the Monsters quickly tied the game at 3:41 when Nick Moutrey tapped home an even-strength equalizer on feeds from Carter Camper and John Ramage. In the middle frame, the Stars surged back in front with a shorthanded Brian Flynn marker at 4:52 that gave the visitors a 2-1 lead through two periods of play.
