Monsters Speed Past Admirals, 3-1
Bittner, Koules score, Korpisalo stops 32 to extend Cleveland’s point streak to three games.
The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, defeated the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday at The Q by a final score of 3-1. With the win, the Monsters are now 7-4-2-1 overall this season and with a .607 points percentage, remain alone in second place in the AHL’s Central Division standings.

After a scoreless opening period, Miles Koules delivered Cleveland a 1-0 lead with an even-strength goal at 4:21 of the second stanza, thanks to feeds from Sam Vigneault and Doyle Somerby. In the final frame, a Paul Bittner power-play goal at 4:55 made it 2-0 Monsters on feeds from Dean Kukan and Carter Camper before Milwaukee’s Emil Pettersson cut Cleveland’s lead in half at 19:32. Joe Pendenza posted an unassisted empty-net goal at 19:44 of the final period, however, to cement a 3-1 Monsters win.
Cleveland backstop Joonas Korpisalo improved to 1-0-0 in net this season by virtue of a 32-save performance while Milwaukee’s Juuse Saros falling to 0-2-0 despite a 20-save showing on Saturday.
