Charlotte's Alex Aleardi scored for the second straight game when he intercepted a pass and darted down the ice, eventually snapping a shot off the post and in to beat Monsters goalie Calvin Pickard at the 2:37 mark of the first period, giving the Checkers a 1-0 lead.  Just under six minutes later, at 8:35 of the first period, the Monsters tied the game with a power play goal from Michael Schumacher.  Ben Street took the puck away from the Checkers in the neutral zone, snapped a pass up the right wing to Andrew Agozzino, who spotted Schumacher driving the net.  Agozzino sent a puck toward the goal that was redirected by Schumacher for his fifth goal of the season, tying the game at 1-1.

Charlotte regained a one-goal lead when Chad LaRose scored a power play goal on a rebound at 4:39 of the second period.  LaRose tapped in the rebound from a Justin Shugg shot, and made the score 2-1 in favor of Charlotte.  The Monsters bounced back again, tying the game at 2-2 when Andrew Agozzino snapped a shot that beat Charlotte goalie Drew MacIntyre stick side from the left circle at 12:58 of the second period.  Agozzino's team-leading 14th goal was assisted by Paul Carey and Street.

With the 2-2 tie carrying on for over half of the third period, Trevor Cheek sent a pass up-ice to Bourke, who slipped behind the Charlotte defense before being pulled down to the ice at 11:06 of the third period and the Monsters one second away from having their third power play of the game expire.  Bourke was awarded a penalty shot, and he took advantage of his attempt by using a deke maneuver to slip the puck past an outstretched MacIntyre for the eventual game-winning goal.

The Monsters led 3-2 for the duration, and Pickard stopped 30 of 32 shots to improve to 12-8-4 on the season.  MacIntyre stopped 30 of 33 shots for Charlotte; he is now 13-17-4.

The Monsters visit Milwaukee at 4:00 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.  Sunday's game airs live on ESPN 850 WKNR.
