Stars Sink Monsters
CEDAR PARK, TX – In the final game of the two teams’ four-game season series, Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters were defeated by the Texas Stars on Sunday at Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, TX by a final score of 2-1. With the loss, the Monsters fell to 26-17-5-3 overall this season and with a .588 points percentage, remain alone in third place in the AHL’s Central Division standings.
The Monsters claimed a 1-0 lead on Sunday when Michael Paliotta wired home an even-strength slapper at 11:49, assisted by Sonny Milano. Texas responded at 15:47, though, as Cole Ully notched a persistent, right-post marker on feeds from Gemel Smith and Esa Lindell at even-strength.
In the middle frame, the period’s only goal was posted by Stars captain Travis Morin on the power-play at 7:28, and after a scoreless final stanza, Morin’s marker established Texas’ final margin of victory at 2-1.

Brad Thiessen fell to 8-3-3 in net for the Monsters despite a 26-save performance, while Stars backstop Maxime Legace saved 33 of the 34 pucks he faced in victory.
