Toy Drive presented by Step2

The Cavaliers and Monsters asked fans to bring new, unwrapped toys to Quicken Loans Arena this past December to help make the holiday season special for children in our community as they hosted their annual Toy Drive, presented by Step2.  The drive collected 1,459 toys that were distributed to non-profit organizations throughout Northeast Ohio that work with underserved children.

Sifers Seats for Soldiers presented by Ohio Lottery

12 soldiers were treated to a Monsters game throughout the month of December as part of Sifers’ Seats for Soldiers presented by the Ohio Lottery. Craig’s Kids

On December 3rd Dairian and his family got to go to the Monsters game as part of the Craig’s Kids program.  Dairian got a game stick from Ryan Craig with a personalized message from the captain. The Monsters worked with the Special Wish Foundation to give the family a special night filled with food, fun, and of course… hockey!

The Monsters players, coaches, and front office staff purchased gifts for 4 families in need selected by OhioGuidestone this holiday season.  Special thanks to the Monsters Better Halves for their assistance with Adopt-a-Family, including shopping, wrapping, and delivering gifts.  To find out more information about how OhioGuidestone supports Northeast Ohio families in need, visit

Phil Simon Dressing Room & Memorial Fund

On Friday, December 16th, the Monsters honored the late Phil Simon with the dedication of the Phil Simon Locker Room at Quicken Loans Arena.  Captain Ryan Craig met with members of the Simon family before the game for the dedication and presented them with Phil’s Calder Cup Championship ring as a commemorative plaque was installed directly outside the Monsters Locker Room, which forever be a reminder of Phil’s legacy and impact on hockey in Cleveland.

During the 1st period, Simon’s family members were on hand for a special check presentation ceremony to the Halloran Park Skating & Hockey program in Cleveland.  $10,000 was granted from the Phil Simon Memorial Fund, a branch of the Monsters Community Fund, to Halloran Park to help with operating costs and improvements.  The money will help keep Halloran Park’s ice rink open this winter, by fixing a cooling tower needed to make the ice. Halloran Park provides children in the city of Cleveland access to free hockey and skating programs.  Members of the Halloran Park hockey program were at the game to receive the check.

Robert Gibson Receives Championship Ring

Also on December 16th, 5-year old Robert Gibson, who through the Special Wish Foundation was signed last season to a one-day contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Cleveland Monsters, was surprised with his very own Monsters Calder Cup Championship Ring!  "We are so grateful and proud to be working with the Cleveland Monsters. When they heard about Rob's wish to be a ‘Monster,’ the entire organization really stepped up and took his wish to an entire new level," said Jason Beudert, co-founder of the Cleveland Chapter of the A Special Wish Foundation.

St. Herman’s House of Hospitality

The Monsters staff spent the afternoon of December 14th volunteering at the St. Herman’s House of Hospitality on Cleveland’s Near West Side, helping to serve meals.  St. Herman’s is a charitable organization committed to serving those in need, providing shelter, job services, clothing, and more.
