Monsters Acquire Forward Kale Kessy from Manitoba Moose in Exchange for Forward Bobby MacIntyre


Shaunavon, SK native posted 13-18-31 in 52 appearances for ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers this season.


The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Monday that the Monsters acquired forward Kale Kessy via trade from the Manitoba Moose in exchange for forward Bobby MacIntyre. Kessy supplied five penalty minutes in one appearance for Manitoba this season and added 13-18-31 with 239 penalty minutes and a -4 rating in 52 appearances for the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers this season. In five appearances for Cleveland this season, MacIntyre notched a -2 rating and added 16-15-31 with 24 penalty minutes and a +5 rating in 38 appearances for the ECHL’s Jacksonville IceMen.

A 6’3”, 212 lb., left-handed native of Shaunavon, SK, Kessy, 25, was selected in the fourth round (111th overall) by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In 144 AHL appearances spanning parts of five seasons from 2013-18 with the Oklahoma City Barons, Bakersfield Condors, and Manitoba, Kessy logged 12-13-25 with 249 penalty minutes and a -18 rating. In parts of three ECHL seasons from 2013-18 with the Bakersfield Condors and Tulsa, Kessy posted 25-30-55 with 311 penalty minutes and a -20 rating in 87 combined appearances. Prior to his professional career, Kessy contributed 46-66-112 with 511 penalty minutes and a +26 rating in 253 WHL appearances for the Medicine Hat Tigers, Vancouver Giants, and Kamloops Blazers spanning parts of five seasons from 2009-13.

A 5’9”, 192 lb., left-handed native of Scarborough, ON, MacIntyre, 21, is in the midst of his first professional season following a five-year OHL career from 2012-17 with the Mississauga Steelheads and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in which the left wing tallied 69-114-183 with 206 penalty minutes and a -18 rating in 306 combined appearances.
