Monsters Skate With Local Youth

Last week, the Monsters, along with Charter One Bank, invited area youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland to the arena and offered them the opportunity to learn about the game of hockey.

Billy Sauer and Cedric McNicoll were on hand for the Monsters second “Take the Ice” event this year. Each player gave some insight on how to play hockey, how to skate, and answered a variety of questions from the newcomers. After the Hockey 101 session, the kids were invited to skate on the ice with the players and other Monsters personnel. For many of the children, this was their first ever experience with skating.

Before lacing up their skates and hitting the ice, the members of the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland were each given a free ticket to see a Monsters game this year courtesy of Charter One.

The Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland enables young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible individuals. One way they achieve this goal is by exposing the members to life-enhancing programs and character development exercises such as “Take The Ice.”

The Monsters thank Charter One and the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland for their participation.
