2019-20 AHL SEASON CANCELLATION INFORMATION

 

Why was the AHL Season Cancelled?

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus, the American Hockey League has cancelled the remainder of the 2019-20 season and the Calder Cup Playoffs. This unfortunate but necessary decision was made with the safety of fans, players and staff as the top priority.

Does this impact the NHL's return to play decision?

No, the AHL return to play decisions are separate from any decisions the NHL may make.

Why not play without fans or wait to decide?

Due to ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus and uncertainty on the ability or timeline of resumed play, the unfortunate but necessary decision was made to cancel the remainder of the 19-20 regular season and Calder Cup playoffs. The safety of fans, players and staff is top priority.

What if I had tickets to remaining games?

Cleveland Monsters fans holding tickets to any of the seven unplayed 2019-20 games may receive up to 110% credit toward 2020-21 Monsters tickets, a choice of additional benefit options for specific plan holders, or a full refund.

Monsters Hockey Club members, group clients and ticket holders have been communicated to directly with these options and action steps. Ticket holders have until June 10 to select an option. After June 10, monies will automatically be applied to 20-21 tickets.

What will happen with the 2020-21 season?

The AHL is focusing efforts on the 2020-21 season and constantly monitoring all public health information. The 2020-21 AHL and Monsters schedule release is slated for this summer.
